We worked hard on planning. It turned out to be the best plan ever. We embarked on the journey to achieve our goals as per planning. However, after some days we gave up on the plan. This is because we are not patient and optimistic throughout the journey.
When we search on google to know the exact meaning of Patience it says that “the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.”
In other words, we have to be strong enough, positive and happy to tackle the hurdles that we face throughout the journey towards the goal.
The Quran says, “O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” [Quran, 2:153]
So true it is. The famous saying “A life without challenge and risk is not worth living,” also resonates what Quran says about patience and optimism.

I would like to give an example of patience and optimism in the time of adversity from the life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Once upon a time, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) visited Taif city to spread Islam there. However, the visit turned out to be a stone pelting attack on him. He initially approached three Chieftains there but efforts of convincing them to embrace Islam go in vain.
He did not lose hope over them and approached the common people there in order to spread Islam. However, it wasn’t also paid off. This act of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) annoyed the people so much that the people jeered and stoned him.
The attack was so severe that his whole body was covered with blood, and his shoes were clogged with blood.
Instead of cursing them, what Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) did is an eye-opener for those who are impatient when met with adversity in life. He went away from the town to escape the rabbles and then prayed for them.
While praying angel Jibrail appeared before Muhammad and said, “O, Prophet of Allah! I am at your service. If you wish, I can cause the mountains overlooking this town on both sides to collide with each other, so that all the people therein (Taif city) would be crushed to death, or you may suggest any other punishment for them.”
Showing no signs of hostility against the people of Taif he answered, “Even if these people do not accept Islam, I do hope from Allah that there will be persons from among their (Taif inhabitants) progeny who would worship Allah and serve His cause.”
That is called patience and optimism even in extreme adversity. He was patient, optimistic and also praying for his goal (i.e. propagating Islam successfully). In result, now the city is an Islamic city that falls in Mecca Province of southwest Saudi Arabia.
Adversity and hurdles are part of the journey on the journey of achieving a goal. Be patient, optimistic and pray for your success. This will succeed you in your life.
