You know that exposure to the beautiful nature while away from work is an oasis of calm in the hectic life. However, you fail to detach yourself from work because either you believe that it is you who are running the world or you do not know how to assign your tasks to anyone. In both the conditions you are leading your life with fallacious. 

It had been three years since I did not go on vacation that allows me to forget about work and expose me to the beautiful world. On this Eid-ul-Fitr (2018) I took the opportunity to visit Agra, India, and totally surrender to the beautiful and attractive nature. Believe me, this trip really refreshed my body, soul, mind and brain.  

I was in Agra for four days. I visited the symbol of eternal love Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Mehtab garden. All these historic and enchanting places really amazed me. They taught me that there is more beauty in this world than what we see and think of while sitting in cubicle offices. 

Spending hours in the gardens of all these places was mesmerizing. The serenity of wind, chirping of birds, the shadow of trees in the scorching sun and the murmurs of trees’ leaves touched my soul and mind. All these gave me a different level of calmness and happiness. I had never felt such calmness and happiness in my life before. 

This experience reminds me of the habit of successful people. They take out time to go on vacation to refresh and recharge their body and mind. Marissa Mayer who was once the CEO and president of Yahoo! Inc. said, “I pace myself by taking a week-long vacation every four months.” 

“In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for all those endowed with insight.” [Quran, 3:190]

The Quran also says that there is something important in nature. The above verse of the Quran urges us to connect with nature and contemplate it. 


What is the importance of away from work with nature? 


Reduces stress
Your work gives you stressful and hustles and bustle life. Whereas, your vacation on new and attractive places in nature works as an antidote for your stressful life. When I was on my vacation in Agra I was really refreshed. It gave me the feeling to resume the work with new energy and mind-blowing ideas. 

According to a study in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, it can be said that people who live within one kilometre of a park or a wooded area experience less anxiety and depression than those who live farther away from green space.


Boost immune system
Exposure to nature like trees and gardens boosts the immune system. It is believed that phytoncides, the airborne chemicals that plants emit is beneficial to human beings. 

Phytoncides is the chemical for plants to protect themselves from rotting and from insects. 

In Japan, people visit forests for a therapeutic practice which is called “forest bathing.”



Boosts happiness
I was really happy when I exposed myself to beautiful nature and attractive places. Your mind goes to a different world where you are away from worldly stress and everything that destroy your happiness.

An experiment in 2013 where more than 10,000 candidates participated. They spend more time in nature for 30 days which was the part of their experiment. The experiment revealed that they became happier than they were before. 


Your brain gets sharper and creative
You become more creative and your mind gets sharper when you are exposed to nature and unusual activity. A study says that a group of backpackers found themselves more creative after the four days on a hiking trail. 

Moreover, it also revealed that creativity increases after about three days of really getting away from work and immersing yourself in nature.


Develops muscles
Have you ever noticed those who live in the village? They are healthier and having good muscles than those who reside in hectic cities. It is because they are more exposed to nature. They are indulged in activities like walking, playing outdoor games. In city life, you either spend time in office or home. 


You might have got motivated by now for a long vacation in beautiful nature. However, you might be wondering how you can make time for it.

Do not worry, here are some tips that you can follow to get exposure to nature. 


Go for a walk every day
Going for a walk every day for about 30 minutes in a nearby garden is not impossible task. You just need 30 minutes and you are all set for this. Do not waste your evening hours in front of the TV that makes you lazy. Spend this precious time with nature. 


Go on a long vacation
Long vacation always pays off. As I experienced it a few days ago after spending four days in Agra. Plan for a vacation every five to six months. Meanwhile, you can work hard for saving money and paid holidays for a long vacation. It is like work hard and party hard. 


Assign your work to others
I know you have lots of work and projects to get done. However, going on vacation and away from work either for a long time or short time is equally important. So, assign your work to someone who can do it. Or delay it for some time. Your vacation can actually help you deliver better results at your work. So, what are you waiting for? 


Success needs creativity, happiness and calmness. This can only be achieved when you resonate and spend time with beautiful nature. Put your work off. Go on vacation and observe the change in your soul and mind with your own.
