Reading about the lifestyle of successful and eminent personalities such as Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Robin Shrama and the list goes on and on made me notice one of the common traits of them i.e. they are early risers. They wake up early in the morning. They are early risers not because they are success. They are success because they are early risers. It is like early bird catches the worm!
The highly influential and most successful person in history Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) would wake up before the sun rises and start his day. (Read about his lifestyle here)
There was a time when I would awake till 2:30 am. Which is why I would wake up around 9 or 10 in the morning and still wanted to go back to sleep. In result, I would hastily take bath, have breakfast without enjoying it with family and rush to the office.
The trouble of waking up late would not end there only. I used to be frustrated just after waking up late knowing that I have ruined my early morning schedule. I would sometimes get anxious if I would feel that even a single minute is wasted while getting ready and having breakfast.
You might be thinking that there are few who are the night owl and doing good in their life. They sleep late and wake up early. But, You are forgetting that only a few of us can actually wake up early after being awakened until midnight. And you know you are not one of those, do you?
Moreover, you might also be thinking that few are night person who has achieved extraordinary and earned fame. However, let me ask you one thing. You have been a night person for some time do you think you are more productive in the night?
Let’s discuss why only early risers have all the benefits.
They have more time for their own projects
You have been thinking of doing something of your own. You want to start a business while doing a full-time job. You want to start a blog as a hobby while working full time. However, you come home from the office and you are exhausted. You don’t want to do anything but to watch your favourite TV shows and sleep.
On the other hand, early risers wake up early and spend some time on their personal projects. Which make them feel like they are enjoying their life to the fullest. Many a time such own projects turn out to be the full-fledged business too.
They have time to think
Thinking is crucial to climb the next ladder of life. Thinking about how you are doing in your professional and personal life gives you a statistics whether you are walking towards your destination or deviating from it. It works as an introspection of oneself.
Robin Sharma in his book ‘The Greatness Guide: Powerful Secrets for Getting to World Class’ writes that once he met with one of Asia’s top CEOs. Asked him the secret of his outrageous success. He smiled and said, “I make time to think.” He further writes, every morning, he spends at least 45 minutes thinking alone.
You can not have a better time to think during work hassle. Morning is the best time for it.
They get time to exercise better
Researchers suggest exercising in the morning rather than in the evening. Apart from fitness, it helps you to get ready for the day actively. researchers at Appalachian State University found morning exercise lowers your blood pressure — correlated with better sleep. Exercise becomes consistent for early risers.
On the other hand, those who try to schedule exercise in the evening after office find inconsistency in it. Which is why they leave their fitness goals behind. Because they are tired and want to go home and watch Netflix.
They don’t have reason to stress
One very significant benefit of waking up early is reduced stress level. When you rise early, it eliminates the need to rush in the morning. You can start your day on an optimistic note and such positivity often stays with you throughout the day. You are punctual for your office and early morning meetings which make your day a perfect one.
You have time for breakfast with your family while having a good talk. Which helps to strengthen relationships.
All the above benefits make an early riser’s day so amazing that he/she feels a sense of victory. In result, he/she gets a good night sleep. Now it is up to you either you become a morning person or night owl.
